Danny Diaz began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2009, training and competing exclusively at the Renzo Gracie Newark Academy under Professor Marco Teixeira.  Immediately fascinated with martial arts from a young age, Diaz recalls witnessing the early days of UFC, particularly a relatively small Royce Gracie submitting much larger and physically imposing opponents.  In similar fashion, Diaz’s philosophy leads him to be a firm believer of understanding positions and body movements to help excel in training; that the smallest details can make or break a technique.

In 2018, Danny Diaz was awarded the rank of black belt under Marco Teixeira.  As Professor Teixeira’s 5th black belt, who himself is a black belt under Renzo Gracie, this was a tremendous honor for Danny.

Diaz has been training under Professor Jamie Cruz since 2019 and he considers giving back through teaching the next generation of students to be one of the highest privileges he has been afforded through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
